Essential Packing List 2025

January 7, 2026

Soon it will be close to the September semester opening, and many of you are probably preparing to travel to study in England. But bringing everything might not be feasible. This article by Peyton & Charmed will help detail the essentials that you should pack in your luggage.

Travel Documents

Before we start packing other necessities, your travel documents are the most important. Besides your Visa, as you already know, there are other essential documents you need to prepare as follows:

  • CAS Letter from the university you will be attending.
  • Proof of your accommodation details.
  • Proof of your course information.
  • Proof of your bank account information to certify your financial status.

These documents are absolutely necessary for you to have ready. If there are any other documents you think are important to use as proof of entry into the UK, you can prepare those as well. Peyton & Charmed recommends that you keep these documents in your carry-on bag where you can easily access and take care of them to present to the airport officials.

Clothing

Even if you have a complete set of clothes at home, we recommend packing only the essentials, such as a winter jacket, sweaters, and a couple of good pairs of shoes. It would be good if you pack basic clothing and then find more weather-appropriate clothes in the UK. The important thing is to pack only what you need and leave unnecessary items at home.

Electronic Devices

Another essential is electronic devices, whether it's your phone, laptop, headphones, or adapters and chargers. Many of you prepare all your devices but forget to bring the chargers. So, don't forget to double-check that you've packed them along with your electronic devices. The UK uses Type G plugs. If any of your chargers are not compatible with Type G plugs, don't forget to bring a UK power adapter.

Medication and Health Essentials

Although you can buy some types of medication over the counter at pharmacies, there are still many that require a prescription. For your convenience and ease of living in the UK, we recommend bringing essential medications from Thailand. Prepare both common medicines for colds and flu, and if you have any pre-existing conditions or health issues, don't forget to bring your necessary medications.

Kitchen Utensils

If you want to try cooking or plan to save money by cooking with friends, don't forget to bring the kitchen utensils you will need. Plates, bowls, spoons, and forks are also essential to bring. Alternatively, if you don't want to take up luggage space by packing cookware, you can buy the kitchen equipment you need when you arrive in the UK.

School Supplies

Many of you might prefer to study using electronic devices, but pencils, pens, and notebooks are still necessary at times. So, it's best to be prepared for your studies by having all your school supplies.

Personal Toiletries

If you are packing in a hurry, whatever you do, don't forget to pack your personal bathroom items or hygiene products. Although you can buy them widely in the UK, it's best to use brands that you are accustomed to.

Finance

Money matters are extremely important, especially when you are far from home. You might prepare your debit card or buy a travel card once you arrive in the UK. Although cash might not be very necessary, it's still important to carry some for emergencies. Another important thing is to open a bank account for use in the UK as soon as possible. The sooner you manage it, the better.

Emergency Contact Numbers

The last essential thing you can't forget is contact information to use in case of emergencies, whether it's the contact number of someone you know in the UK or the contact number of your family in Thailand.

Peyton & Charmed hopes that this article will help you pack your luggage and prepare to start your life in the UK. If anything is missing or incomplete, you can always contact Peyton & Charmed for assistance.
